MadaLuxe Group, the leading luxury distributor in North America, announced in September 2023 that it was expanding its platform to include the premium spirits category. Reflecting a product-first strategy, MadaLuxe acquired a majority stake in Tequila Enemigo, which was established in the United Kingdom in 2017 and expanded into the United States market a year later.

Stocked at well-known restaurants and bars worldwide, the Enemigo brand has attained 60 awards over the years, including several Tequila of the Year and Double Gold recognitions. The unique taste of distillates such as Extra Anejo 00 and Anejo Cristalino 89 reflects attention to detail, with Blue Weber Agave combined with Volcan de Tequila’s mineral-laden water and aged in handcrafted oak barrels.

In selecting Tequila Enemigo to partner with, the MadaLuxe Group co-founder and CEO described forging a warm personal relationship with the company’s operating directors, which made striking a collaborative agreement easy. The investment by MadaLuxe’s venture capital division is one of many in disruptive technologies and products. With the former Tequila Enemigo owners maintaining a minority stake and day-to-day operations control, the spirits will now have a significantly broader worldwide reach.
